I-90 West to Seattle

Am planning a trip west in 2016 and was thinking of taking I-90 across the top tier of the country.

When are the roads clear of snow and or other bad weather, would it be April / May ?

Also, what are some of the points of interest across this way ?

April and May are swing months for weather, in SD,WY, MT and ID you can expect to have the occasional snow storm along with Ice. You just have to pay attention and park it when it happens. Pay to have all your weather gear with you.

Was stationed in Rapid City SD and the worst snow storm we had in 4 years was in May. Unusual but does happen. Generally got alittle snow in Apr.

Snoqualmie Pass

Snoqualmie pass I-90 can get snow in April but this is supposed to be a La Nina warmer & dryer year. You may hit some freezing rain in April. By May all things weather related should be clear, but they are going major construction on I-90 over the pass for the next several years. Once the snow is gone you can expect closures and construction delays. Keep checking here for updates:

CC, based on your profile, I'm guessing you'll be starting from FL, possibly heading up some Interstate corridor to the Chicago area, then westward. You'll be cutting right through IL/IN.

Another thing to keep in the back of your mind is the springtime weather on the Midwest plains. That block of OK, AR, MO, IL, IN is not called "Tornado Alley" for nothing. Eyes open.
