I70 thru Indianapolis

We will be traveling on I70 west thru Indianapolis making the connection to I74 west. Looks like my best route is to take the southern loop of 465. We will be moving thu on a mid Monday morning.

Is this my best option?

We travel thru Indy using I-70 or I-465. Both are good after rush hour in the morning. Google Maps does not show any construction taking I-465. But shows I-70 thru town as shorter route.

Yes, south 465 is the best option. Avoids downtown and seldom has backups.

I would take I 70 west to I 65 north at the downtown split. Follow I 65 north to exit 140 (IN 32). Take IN 32 west to I 74. You might want to check for construction on any road that you do take as there is a lot going on right now.
Good Luck,
Indiana Journey

We went thru there using that route last week. Time your trip thru during non-rush hour times and it will be uneventful.

Good Luck,

On the map, that does look like a bit shorter route. I will consider the two options when we get in the area and assess traffic and road conditions.

Thanks.

We take both ways, seems like its awash, either way. Regardless, avoid during morning and afternoon rush ours.

OH YAH - Watch your speed.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

I had a UPS semi driver tell me to use the I/65 to Rt 32 and I have found it to be the best option for us.

Download Google Maps onto your cell phone and it will take the guesswork out of traffic. It's the only way I drive as it will reroute you when it senses a traffic problem ahead.

Probably too late for this request put I will post this anyway for those who plan to travel through Indy on I-70. I live here and travel I-70 from 30 miles sw of Indy to the NW side of the city. Right now, there is construction on that southern leg of 465 down to 1 lane, don't go there if you don't have to. As long as you avoid morning and evening rush hour, just stay on I-70 through downtown. You'll get a good close up view of Lucas Oil Stadium..."The house that Payton built" You go through the north and south split with I-65. Mileage and time wise without construction, it is a wash. Hope this helps someone.

We went thru using one of the routes recommended. We took I65 North up to exit 140, then took Rt. 32 over to I74. It was easy with the exception of one delay due to an accident on I65 just after we got on from I70.
