Indianapolis to Dawson Creek British columbia

We are taking a Winabago trip to Alasca this summer. We are trying to decide the route. Should we go north into Canada then West or go west in the US then up into Canada? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We are going to from Minnesota. Which trip are you on? We leave from Dawson Creek on July 16th. I am very excited. First we are leaving for Tx and points west to end up in San Diego, be back in April.

We went thru the border to Alberta at Sweetgrass. Stopped in Great Falls, MT before heading for the border. The crossing was easy and Alberta is lovely. Montana is not bad either. By the way, we left from the Crawfordsville, IN area and headed to Alaska in 2014.

I'd recommend staying in the lower 48 as long as possible because of cheaper fuel. Take Hwy 2 across to the West and there are many crossings. The crossings have different opening/closing times so check that, also.

The Border Crossings ezbordercrossing.com

We crossed at Sumas, Washington and returned at Roosville, Montana. It depends, also, on what you want to see in the lower 48. I'd also recommend to save a lot of siteseeing for after you cross back in the lower 48. Doing too much before you even cross into Canada will wear you out. You need to be fresh for this long trip. Besides, if returning the end of August or Sept. that's a perfect time to explore the lower 48 - less crowds/better weather.
