Is it better to take Hwy7 or I87 up to Vermont

What is the best route from NY or Mass to Vermont, up to hwy 2 into Maine, Hwy 7 or I 87, and what is the toll on 87 with M.H. and car in tow?

Not sure why u would go to Maine thru VT? Route 7 is nice road thru lots of towns. A bit slow but real VT. I 87 strait up through beautiful Adirondacks Mtns. Quicker and scenic as well. Stop on way at lake George and take a lake cruise.

If you are going in to Lake George village you may as well continue up the west shore road to Ft Ticonderoga and cross the new Lake Champlain bridge at Crown Point. On the other side you will be in VT.
