Jacksonville FL to Binghamton NY

Leaving next week for a norhbound trip for a few weeks. 40' Dynasty with Jeep Wrangler Toad. SnowbirdRVtrails.com has a good route. They propose 95 to 64 to 81. We were considering 95 to 26 to 77 to 81 to run along the smokey mountains....anyone have any comments on these routes? Or places to stay/things to do? Is 77 a bit too treacherous?

Thanks for any and all comments

You have chosen the best route, stick with it. I have done that same route twice and it is a very easy drive. Lots of great scenery so enjoy the ride.

I refuse to compete with all of the truckers and traffic on I-95 plus the tolls, UGH!

We live in Jax as well, and just made this trip last month, only kinda in reverse, since we went from NY on up to the UP of Mich. The second route (95, 26, 77, 81) is the most scenic, as well as the best roads. Once you get past SC on I-95 the roads get rough. You will have no problems on 77, we didn't find it difficult. Have a safe trip.

Jeff,
We live in Bingo and have made the trip many times. The route you picked will be easy and very scenic. 95 is absolutely a " have to get there fast road". Ugly, nasty traffic, REALLY not fun.

My daughter lives in Jacksonville & we live just above Binghamton which is right on I81....... Definitely take 95 to 26 to 77 to 81.........traffic is usually much lighter than taking I95 the majority the trip. The scenery is also nice on 77 & 81 though there is a pretty good climb on 77 as soon as you cross into VA. If I don't run into any bad traffic delays I can be down to Jacksonville (from Cortland Ny) in 18 to 19 hrs, with gas stops & a 1hr dinner stop at Cracker Barrel in Daleville VA.(in the car)
