We're towing a 30' 5th wheel and trying to decide whether to take Rt.68 and Rt.163 through Bullhead City and Laughlin to Rt.95 or to stay on I-40 to Rt. 95 in CA? Thanks.

We took that route (68 and 163 to US-95) two weeks ago. It was fine. As you cross the river going into Laughlin stay to the right so you don't get forced into turning south on Casino Dr. Don't ask how I came by that piece of wisdom.

I understand Dave and Cathy and we'll take that route but "stay to the right". We're going to visit the daughter in Boise from Deming,NM, probably in June or July.
Thanks for the advice.

It will be very hot at that time of year and there is a long pull leaving Laughlin westbound. But then it's going to be very hot much of the way from Deming to Las Vegas with a number of long climbs along the way.

...then maybe we'll drive at night as long as it's hot, especially through Phoenix and Las Vegas. That's only one of the advantages of being retired...no schedule anymore!! Thanks again.

The climb westward out of Laughlin is one of the toughest, longest climbs I've ever encountered. Seems like I remember a stoplight at the bottom that prevents getting a headstart on speed before the climb begins.

Thank you wing nut 60. I've decided that when the time comes, June/ July, I'll take the long way and stay on I-40 west to where Rt. 95 heads north.
