Klamath CA to Prescott AZ

On return from Oregon coast, I am looking at alternatives for a route from Klamath, CA ti Prescott, AZ.

I am not interested in getting tied up in traffic through San Francisco or San Jose, so I was looking at routes 299 or 36 across to I5 at Red Bluff.

I would like to know which is a better route, or are there other alternatives?

we like to take the backroads when traveling to and from the fmca rally in refmond or.
try 139 out of klamath falls to hwy 395. take that to reno nv. then take hwy 95 east (interstate 80 east to turnoff south on hwy 95) thru las vegas , then follow hwy 95
to kingman az. take I40 east to exit 146 at ask fork., south on hwy 89 to prescott
wave when you pass thru paulden az.

JaMa Our preferred routing from OR to AZ is 97 out of Klamath to I 5 to CA 89/44 thru Shasta Nat Forrest ( good fast pretty two lane) to Susanville 395 to I 80 Reno/Sparks (refuel at Fernly) Alt 50 to 95 then LV, Kingman, I 40 as azpete stated. Good luck.

Thank you for your inputs. I am taking azpete's route on the way up, but was looking at the route back from Klamath, CA, not Klamath Falls, OR.

I had also looked at allynne's route while thinking of heading to I5 in Oregon instead of entering CA on the coast.

Hwy 20 from 101 over to I-5 is o.k. for big rigs. Then we take Hwy 50 to 395 south to I-40.

I would recommend the 20 over the 299. I just went that route and didn't like all the hills on the 299. The 20 was a much better route in my opinion.
