When we arrived in Lab City the Chamber of Commerce folks greeted us (3 rigs) as the first caravan ever. Fifth wheel and a dually, Winnebago Lesharo (VW base C), and a 40' Country Coach.
After Alaska DW was looking at Atlas and said there was a road to Goose Bay...the research was on. At that time they had local contests on clearing the road in spring from East and West to see who could get the farthest.
The year we went was a major improvement year. At one point we were stopped for construction, Guy in a big CAT dozer crushes big rock on about a four foot elevation change. New road pics are much better, but still all gravel for some 600 miles. Took it easy and no damage to any rig.
We sat on the ferry dock at Goose bay for a couple of days and locals kept stopping to chat...all Florida plates so we were quite the novelty.
Backing the fifth wheel 450' inside the ferry was neat! Icebergs on the trip to NF. Dinner with some locals in Goose Bay....a trip to remember.
