Lakeview AR, Bull Shoals campground Trip

Hey Gang,

On the move solo again this time to Gaston Airport in Lakeview AR. Will be coming down from I70. A close friend has warned me against coming down from Cabool on highways EE, 76, 95, 181 and then 5 from the north into Gaston's driving a motor home, stating that it is (extremely) steep and crooked with no shoulders.

Has given me two suggested routes as follows:

I70 to South 63 West Plains
then 160 to Caufield
Hwy 101
Hwy 412

Also

I70 to Hwy 57 Sikeston
60 to Poplar Bluff
160 to Donaphan
142 to Thayer
jog south on 63 to Mammoth Springs
Hwy 9 to Salem
Hwy 412 on in to Mountain Home.

He is a great guy and friend but I thought it best to ask the pros here on iRV2.

Thoughts and suggestions?

I have been there, but years ago. I may not be the best guy to ask if the road is too small, too steep or if there are no shoulders. I love traveling the back roads. I would suggest to just take your time. I might consider if I was in a hurry, to take HY 5 to Midway and then over 178 into the lake area. If you never been on the lake it is a beautiful place.

Beautiful campground and some good trout fishing on the White River. I will post some photos after I get home.
