Long Island to Jersey City

We are traveling from New London, CT to Jersey City (Liberty Harbor RV) via ferry from New London to Orient Point, then the length of Long Island to Jersey City. We'll be traveling on a Sunday. Any tips on the best route into Jersey City? And also, what the tolls are? Also if you have any recommendations on campgrounds on Long Island (somewhere in the middle) that would be great too. Thanks!

My advice is to stay away from Jersey City if you can help it,but if you have to go,drice a car and stay in a hotel.

Hmmm, that's not very comforting. We have already paid a large deposit at Liberty Harbor RV (w/no refunds), so we're pretty much committed. Anyone else want to weigh in on this?

I IT would help to know what type rv you will be making this trip with. But make no mistake, this is an area not for the faint of heart, even on a sunday. With that said, remember you cannot use any roadways marked as "parkways", only use "expressways". So my suggestion is, LIE to the THROGS NECK BRIDGE! to the cross Bronx expressway to GW bridge to the NJ Turnpike then follow signs to Liberty state park. Can't help with tolls without knowing the unit. These are my suggested route, but I am sure 10 or more others will have their own. I drove TT in that area for more years then I care to remember. Good Luck and have a safe trip.

Thanks for the tips. We know it is going to be crazy. We are driving a 32 foot motorhome, towing our CRV.

Thanks for all you help. Your instructions were right on! We made one bad turn just before the Holland Tunnel which is another story, but all in all it was great. Thanks again!
