Is taking louisana 82 through Holly Beach and Cameron to Abbeville scienic enough to make it worth the drive. We are going to Lake Fausse Pointe Park and were looking for a less boring route rather than staying on I-10.

I am not sure the ferry between Holly Beach and Cameron is big enough to handle your MH. Even if it is long enough, the approach may be rough. Hwy 82 passes through a lot of marsh land and is pretty desolate. IMHO I would get off I-10 in Lake Charles, LA and take Hwy 14 through Gueydan and Kaplan.

Thanks Wayne
It sounds like theres nothing that is very interesting to see. I was looking at that route because I truly love the Bayou country. To me it's a place that doesn't disappoint with the scenery or the culture. I have been down through Cut Off to Grand Isle and alway like getting back there.

LA 14 goes through the heart of Cajun Country. Gueydan, Kaplan, Abbeville, Erath, Delcambre, New Iberia, and St. Martinville are really the heart of Acadiana. You will really love the experience.

I don't know if you've already made the trip, but the cameron Ferry should have no problem with your rig; they regularly transport 18 wheelers with heavy loads across the river.

If you like the bayou country, 14 wouldn't be a bad ride. Very similar to the strip down to Grand Isle and such. I've worked in the area on and off for 20 years, so have seen more than enough of it!

Enjoy...

Chuck,

Don't know if you are still in the Lake Fausse park, but if you want to see some great Mardi GRAS parades we will be at Cypress Lake in Bayou Vista till Monday. There are 4 parades in Houma on Fri, Sat and Sunday. We will be in a secured area.

Thanks Wayne, we did as you suggested and it was a great trip. Lots and lots of rice fields and those wonderful Louisana roads. I will have my fillings put back in when we get back home, but the trip was worth it.

Too bad James, we left Wednesday and are in Ocean Springs, Miss. I didn't open my E Mail until Wednesday evening after I got to Ocean Springs. We would have enjoyed meeting you.

Well maybe next year. Alabama celebrates Mardi Gras, but not Louisiana. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Cajun country. As for the roads, I assume the powers that be use them as speed bumps to keep us from speeding. LOL
