?Louisville I-65 Bridge Status

Hi All:

Say, does anyone out here have an update on the status of the I-65 bridge in Louisville, KY. Specifically wondering about Northbound. Thinkin about runnin up to Indiana from winter camp in Florida this April/May and wondering whether they're still encouraging bypassing this area??

Thanks.

Steve

Try to avoid the I-65 bridge during the usual rush hours AM & PM.
The rest of the time is is a little more crowded than before the I-64 Bridge shut-down. We have had no problems when we travel that way.
Good Luck,
Indiana Journey

P.S. Avoid I-65 and Louisville on Derby weekend, it gets real crowded.

Chickadee,
Good news! The governor announced today that the I-64 bridge would open on or before March 1, 2012. This should free up any traffic problems with the I-65 bridge. I would still time my travels to avoid the morning and evening rush hours. Don't forget the Derby also.

Coming from the south up 65 into Indiana really doesn't have too many problems...it's going the other way that you can expect at least a 20 minute delay almost any time of the day. Even using 71 or 64 and over the 65 bridge to Indiana is easy.

As far as the other bridge opening???? Supposed to be March 1st.....was ahead of schedule, then yesterday some "activists" (I use the term loosely) decided to protest bringing work to a halt. What was the protest you ask????? Not enough minorities (allegedly) working for the construction company.

Finally, as a resident in the area using the bridges on almost a daily basis, I would not be the least bit surprised if the 65 bridge isn't closed or at least severely restricted for repairs once the 64 bridge reopens causing ongoing traffic headaches.
