I agree. Keep heading east all the way to Lubec. The “Downeast “ Maine is lovely and much less crowded. Haven’t had the chance to do interior Maine yet.

We've been to Maine many time and it is a beautiful state. Yes there is more to Maine than Bar Harbor, which we feel is too commercialized. At least for us. We prefer Boothbay and Camden. Sebago lake is also worth visiting. As is Sugarloaf mountain in the Carrabassett valley.

I also agree that route one in Maine is a very picturesque drive it takes you through some great little "down east" villages.
