If you use I-10 through Louisiana in Lafayette there is a KOA which isn't bad and then in Henderson (15 miles east of Laf.) there is Cajun Plams where we stay www.cajunpalms.com. In Livingston LA on the east side of BR there is Lakeside RV Resort on I-12 which is very nice. I would NOT recommend the KOA in BR which is actually in Denham Springs. Have a good trip.

I assume you will take IH 20 from the Dallas area to Red Bay. I've stayed at a couple state parks in Miss just off the interstate that were okay. There's a cg at one of the casinos in Jackson that is said to be acceptable... I've not been there.

Bottom line....its a long boring drive from Dallas to the Al state line unless you chose to take the back roads.

Call Bob and ask him, I bet he's made the trip a bunch.

Probably the quickest would be Hwy 380 from McKinney to Greenville, I30 to Little Rock, I40 to Memphis, US78 to Hwy 23 north toward Red Bay. Very few campgrounds between Little Rock and Memphis and they are mostly dumps. There are a couple in West Memphis and Memphis. Tom Sawyers is decent and quick on quick off and a short drive into Memphis. West Memphis is also a good fuel stop. 3 or 4 truck stops and convenient to Interstate and Tom Sawyers. If you go 20 there are a couple of nice cg in Vicksburg and you could visit the National Monument there. Ameristar in Vicksburg will comp you the camping fee and a free meal if you visit the casino.
