Mesa to Holbrook via 87/260/277/377

last time we drove this route was 15-16 years ago in a much smaller motorhome. i recall lots of ups and downs and the mountain directory confirms my recollections. wondering not so much about the grades but the condition of the road/pavement, shoulders to use should they be needed and so on. we're staying overnight in holbrook when we leave mesa and according to google maps this route is 45-min faster than I-17/I-40. but that assumes everything else is equal. so apart from the scenery is this route worth the 45-min? we're in a '16 39' gasser pulling a jeep suv. actual gcw is ~28k.

The roads are good and many, many RVers travel that way. Enjoy!

87 from the 202 to Payson is 4 lane, 260 from Payson to the top of the rim is 4 lane then 2 lane w/ passing lanes to Heber, 277 & 377 are 2 lanes. The surface of all are in good shape.
