Michigan Routes 131 &31
The route is:
1. Start at Goshen, IN.
2. Traverse Bay RV Resort
3. St. Ignace KOA
The map and GPS says:
1. Goshen To Travers Bay RV Resort is mainly route 131.
2. Traverse Bay RV Resort to St. Ignace KOA is route 31.
Are these route good for a 40' coach towing? Or do I bite the bullet and go over to I75 and then come back west?
thanks,

I do not think you will have any issues and I have traveled most of those roads at one time or another.. 31 does go through towns, but the I75 option is way the bleep out of your way. Nearly 200 miles.. So the added fuel consumption at red lights and such will not matter. Plus they are nice towns.
The major problem I see is that just left of your driver's seat are some fantastic places to spend some time,, You might get "Delayed" a few days due to the view (Lake Michigan Shoreline, Dunes and such)

Been on both myself as well, especially with our last summer west coast tour of MI & no problem with a coach. wa8yxm is right. You might wanna make some time to take in the views - be sure you go to Sleeping Bear Dunes while in TC.
We did the Wine Trail, last summer while staying at Indigo Bluffs Motorcoach Resort in nearby Empire. 'Bout near had to leave Dave behind to stay under my CCC.

I agree you shouldn't have any problem. The traffic thru towns is something we can't avoid. While in the UP there is much to see too!

Hi ejm4,
Just drove around TB and can not find a Bounder. What site are you in? I'm in 137. Only here two nights. Off to Sleeping Bear Dunes tomorrow.

Gary, if you have time tomorrow, take M-22 north from Sleeping Bear headquarters, stopping at the Dune Climb, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, old Coast Guard life-saving station at Glen Haven, Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor (lots of free samples!), Leland and on up to Northport. It's beautiful country.
When you head up to St. Ignace, it is slow going on 31, lots of towns and traffic. An alternative would be to take M-72 from TC over to 131 and up. Not quite as scenic, but much less stressful.
Have fun--we love that part of our state.

Thanks for the replies. As the main roads, I'm going to take the M72 to 131 north to get from Traverse Bay to St. Ignace KOA.

Taking M-72 over to 131 will be an easier drive going up to St. Ignace, driven both routes many times. You might consider a night or two at Hearthside Grove just north of Petoskey on 131. It is a fantastic park and only about 1/2 hour from the bridge. After you pass the KOA keep watching on the right about 1 mile north for the entrance to Hearthside Grove. At least stop and take a look around, you'll want a break by then anyway.
Be very aware of the wind when crossing the bridge. It can get really nasty up on the bridge. Many time the bridge will close to large vehicles if the wind is severe enough. Immediately north of the bridge is a rest area with a scale model of the bridge and some very interesting displays.
Hope you are having a wonderful time here in Michigan.

Hi Kazoo Tom,
I spent a week at Hearthside Grove in 2010. I was considering purchasing a site. It is a very nice resort.

There is another resort just west of Petoskey on 31 in the area of Bay Harbor. I think it is a signature resort. Anyway they are supposed to also be very nice and are currently running promotions. Might be worth a stop if you are in the area. I've never stayed there so can't speak first hand about the property.
