Michigan to Hot Springs, AR
We'll be going South to Hot Springs, AR in our 37'DP w/Toad. I would like to avoid I-55 South of Sikeston, MO, and am looking at taking US-67 south from Poplar Bluff, MO to Little Rock. I would welcome input on road conditions.

We'll be heading from Memphis to Sparta IL in July. Is there any reason you're avoiding I-55 south of Sikeston?

Sorry about the delay in replying to you, but a number of negative comments were made about the condition of I-55 in Arkansas, and I recalled that it was miserable a year ago in March when we traveled north out of Memphis.

I55 immediately North of Memphis is pretty rough. They have just repaved the southbound lanes and looks like they are going to do northbound. You might check closer to travel time and see if it has been done.

I came up I55 thru Arkansas in March. It almost shook the fillings out of my teeth. It was bounce/ thump/ bounce/ thump, for miles. Even dropping down to minimum speed 45 mph, it was terrible. Tried driving in the left lane too. No better. Like dwmcg said, check for updates as you near your trip date.

From Michigan, go thru Illinois via I 57, to Memphis, and bypass I55 altogether.
C.O.E. in Rend Lake, in Southern Ill. is a great place.
Another nice, fun place in Arkansas is the Diamond mine state park. For a few bucks you can wallow in the dirt and try to find diamonds, which you can keep.

US 67 is part two lane and part four lane.It saves a bunch of miles but you have Little Rock to contend with. I would go down 67 -but I am an old truck driver!!

Crater of diamonds state park. I was there a few weeks ago, absolutely fantastic facilities. It seems to be a very popular place so you may want to make reservations

Having traveled both in. 38'dp, and living in Little Rock, go with 67. I40 between Memphis and LR has bad construction..... LR is not bad at all.....
