Michigan to Myrtle beach

Leaving next for the winter. Headed to Chattanooga for a week then to Columbia S.C. for a few days then to Carolina Pines in Conway outside Myrtle beach until Jan. 15th then down to Florida via 95. How bad are mountains going into Chattanooga? Going to Columbia via Atlanta to avoid more.

I'm heading in a similar direction, 1000 Islands to South Carolina.

I will also be reading the posts.

What route are you planning to use to get to Chattanooga from Michigan?

I presume you are heading down I-75 to TN from Michigan. I've driven it many times to Florida. My Allegro is 36' on a Ford Chassis. There are a few inclines that might get you to gear down a bit, but certainly nothing to be concerned about. In your diesel, you'll hardly notice tnem.

If you are using I-75 South, the only real hilly part is just as you get into Tennessee, you have a pretty good climb. Once over that, no problems.

We came that route in July of this year and found a bunch of construction on I-75 in the south part of Kentucky. I am sure they are still working on it. A few lane closures, etc. Just be on the lookout.

On our route from Chattanooga to Columbia, I suggest you take I-75 South all the way to I-20 East, forgoing a trip around I-285 in Atlanta.

Regards.

Chuck
