Microsoft Streets & Trips

I downloaded the trial version and like the way it works. But are there any RV options with the full version? I am mainly looking at height, weight restrictions due to the RV itself.

I used MS&T for several years and I downloaded the Discovery Owners MEGA Poi file from the web. It gives so many items that it is impossible to list here. One of them is Bridge heights. That is basically the only restriction that I looked for. Weights and other restrictions were not a big concern on the roads I traveled. It is a great program for planning.

Now I use either Google or Bing maps for my planning and the AITA Low Clearance on-line information on structure heights. It is more up-to-date than POI's. Nothing is absolute so I also watch for those yellow diamond signs with clearances, and the overhead printed clearances bell before I get to an item. Knock on wood I have never had to turn around.

If you have a USB Hockey Puck satellite antenna, try plugging it in and using the MS&T GPS. Mine works with Co-Pilot hockey puck and the MS&T hockey puck.

Happy trails.

I use Streets/maps for all my "preliminary routing". I can customize the "find nearby places", to include campgrounds, Etc. there is a menu to select what you want. It will calculate distance, costs. That gives me an idea. Then I use RV park review, to get an idea about the campground. Also, I try to find "places" after about 5 hours driving. Once the "plan" is determined, I still use the road atlas to verify. I don't think Streets/maps has "bridge height" info. That would be in the newer GPS units, altho would be costly. I found a TOM TOM on clearance, with up to date maps, for $78.00 no height info tho.
