Middlebury to Phoenix suggested Route?

We are leaving factory after scheduled maintenance late October and traveling for an overwinter trip that starts in Phoenix for a month or so till December. Just wondering the best route to Phoenix that would have good roads and nice RV parks along the way. We are considering driving south into Alabama and then west through Mississippi, Texas, and New Mexico versus driving Southeast from Middlebury on a straighter course through Missouri, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. We are not concerned about distance and time just quality of travel, quality of parks, and scenery. Also DW doesn't like mountains and we prefer generally to travel interstates. We are not at all familiar with the area. Any suggestions for routing including good rv parks are appreciated.

35yr owner operator, i use to run from archbold oh to tucson i think ive went everyway possible to arizona. you can mapquest this and drag your pointer for different routes if you want to stay on the superslab you can run 69 70 44 40 to 17 or 69 65 40 17 a little bit more south would be 69 65 40 30 20 10 and 17. there is parts of 40 that used to shake your teeth out and i havent been across that way in 8 years they may have repaved but if not bumpy ride. cant tell you much about campgrounds since i stayed in the truck.but you can do a check i believe online and route campgrounds along each one.
