Has anyone taken a big rig on the Mobile Bay Ferry? I can't get them to answer their phone and they don't return phone messages to determine size and weight limitations.

Last time I was down there there we no restrictions BUT the ferry had planks to aid in load and unload at high and low tide - - didn't much like the looks of it - - -we had parked at Gulf Shores and took the Jeep over.
I would try to get them again - - Maybe the Alabama DOT could help

Denny,
If you remember, are the planks steel, and if so, are they wide enough for dual rear tires?

During our trip through Pensacola, we drove our toad over to Fort Morgan to get a look at this ferry. It is only about a 12 car ferry, 6 cars on each side with the pilot house in the center, and the flat deck area for the cars is not covered. A very small ferry compared to those used in the Washington State Ferry System.

Even though they have a motorhome rate, I wouldn't recommend it for an RV over 10,000 pounds.
