More Louisiana road questions

--Is Highway 12, East out of Beaumont, Texas, then 190 to Opelousas, LA a decent road? Trying to avoid I-10 to Henderson, LA.
--Thinking of taking 90 from Lafayette to New Orleans. Is that very scenic, or should I just stay on I-10. I will avoid the Huey P. Long (skinny) Bridge at all costs.

I would take I 10, and get to Cajun palms, as quickly as possible. This is one of our favorite camp grounds. We are there every year for mardi Gras and will be again this year. Take the swamp people tour on atchafalaya basin and enjoy the great food and music. I 10, is not worse than most other interstates. Lot'sa traffic so just take your time. Will you be there for mardi gras?

While 90 is slower, the views are much better than I 10

We will be at Cajun Palms for mardi gras in Lafayette. Making a day trip from there to New Orleans to see a parade there. Will take I-10 all the way.

How is the road into Cajun Palms? Google street view shows some low hanging tree limbs.

We are in Florida now, will be in Cajun palms on the 19th. Roads into Cajun palms are good, only short distance from the interstate. We like Mardi GRAS in the smaller towns around Lafayette. Hope to see you there.

12/190 is OK. It does have some rough spots. Actually I-10 from Beaumont to Henderson is now better road. There is some not as good as the rest of it going through Lake Charles, but it's not that bad. Otherwise it's good road all the way. The part that is so rough is from Henderson to the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. That's terrible.

I know 90 south from Layfayette to the turn off to Avery Island (New Iberia) is very good road. I can't personally say from there east to New Orleans.

Hyw 12 is not bad, but a little narrow in spots, still a two lane road and doable. I don't know about 190.

Thanks for all of the info.We won't be at Cajun Palms until after Mardi Gras. Sure wish we had thought of Mardi Gras before we had our itinerary set in stone. But, I'm sure there'll still be plenty of Cajun music and great food.
