Mountain Directory:::Worth buying???

We are headed to Utah, Colorado,Wyoming and Montana next month. Is it worth buying the mountain directory ? Also , if I buy the Ebooks version, can we use it on an iPad ?

Thanks,
Tipaulfla

I had both East and West and found them to be a great resource.

Send a message via ICQ to Fred and Bonnie
If you stay on the Interstate System, the benefit will be minimal. The biggest advantage is information on U.S., State and County roadways.

We always drove secondary roads and love the mountains so, yes, to us it was very worthwhile. Purchase it from their site. Amazon is extremely expensive for some reason.

Mountain Directory is invaluable when traveling in the west in my opinion. That includes interstates. For example, if you're in California's Central Valley & your goal is Laguna Beach, do you use Grapevine or Tehachapi? I keep checking for the iPad version. It is still not available unless you're running Windows according to their website.

Yes to finding the MD to be another great tool when planning routes. My DW does not like drop off's, and claims that all highways are purposely built to put the passenger side seat overlooking the 6000' drop off's! Oddly, in some magical way, this both going and coming somehow...

I have a follow up question, that due to it being Sunday, I can't call to ask from the company selling these. Does anyone know if they've done any updates to these books over the years? Our Western book is now probably 8+ years old. Getting ready to buy the Eastern book, and thought I'd buy the package with both books, if they've made any updates...

Best to all,
Smitty

I ordered the MW edition a couple of days ago. It can only help as we like to get off the major highways

We have the eBook version but unless things have changed recently it isn't a normal eBook file, it is an executable program that only runs, I believe, on a Windows pc.

Just picked up my mail and it was there. Browsed thru it quickly and it has the info I was looking for.....grades, bridges, etc that you need to be careful of. Will look at it more in depth later but it looks to be exactly like what I was looking for.

Absolutely worth it. We also have the ebooks version, and it is PC only.
