Myrtle Beach routing

Coming out of Emporia, Virginia, on I 95, headed for Myrtle Beach. Haven't run this way in a lot of years. Used to be that you got off 95 around South of the Border and worked the back roads from there. Someone mentioned a new highway that would be more direct, but wasn't clear on route numbers or directions.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

In August coming from Shenandoah NP. (northern VA.) to MB we did I-95 / I-795 / I-40 thru Wilmington. It was all backed up in Wilmington where you cross the river to get on route 17. It wasn't construction, just poor road design where all the south bound traffic was down to one lane to get onto 17. We spent an hour in stop-n-go traffic. Next time we will travel further south on I-95 before cutting over. Just my 2 cents.....

Suggest you get off I-95 at Latta (Flying J at the exit), get on Rt 38 to Rt.501. All nice 4 lane roads.

Where in MB will you be staying? There are best routes off 501 depending on your final destination....North, Middle or South Myrtle Beach.
