Myrtle Beach to Florida
We will be going from Myrtle Beach to Fla next Saturday. We were wondering about Rt 17 thru Charleston, back to 95. Have never been that way before and didn't know what the traffic is like thru Charleston while towing a fifth wheel. We did stop at AAA and they suggested taking 526 around Charleston. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You really don't want to go through charleston. It's longer but take the 526 loop.

Not arguing but wondering why not go through the city? Tight, confusing? ugly? security? or what? I am looking at the same route in early April. Usually like to avoid the super slabs.

After you cross the bridge in Mt. Pleasant, the route is twisty, busy, rough and bouncy. We like Charleston and don't mind driving around in our car but IMO I would avoid driving thru on 17 in the RV.

Lived in Charleston for a few years. I'd strongly suggest you take 526 around the city. Life's easier when you take the path of least resistance.
Seriously, downtown is narrow, slow, twisty, and can be confusing at times.

We took the chareleston route didnt like it so on the way back we stayed on 95 and bipassed that area

I would go west from myrtle Beach and forget charleston.

We've taken the RV through Charleston on several occasions with no problems. There are about two miles of road through the city where you might go a little slower, but the route is well marked. Crossing the Ravenel Bridge in an RV is enough by itself to make me want to go that way. But, I'm an engineer and love beautiful bridges. I also like the bridges on I526. Personally, I also like the drive on US 17 through Pawley's Island, Georgetown, etc. If you don't like the "super slabs", then by all means, take the road through Charleston. Stop for a few days if you can.
On edit, I didn't look at the dates. I suppose you have already been there and back. Oh well, I still like going through Charleston.
