Hello in preliminary planning on going down the Nachez Trace from Nashville to Naches direction. Wondering about RV friendly campgrounds/RV parks and gas stations. Any must stop and see places. If we go will be from June 1-18 and fair/festavls/wineries of note.

So, is the Trace RV friendly? I had a feeling that larger vehicles were not allowed. I have to admit that when we did it we were in our car and found it boring. We had no need to know if RV,s were allowed, I just have that cloudy thought in my head.

Did the Trace a couple of years ago, beautiful drive and plenty of places to stop along the way. No fuel stations so do that before you depart. We stayed at the Natchez Trace RV Park near Tupelo and it was a good location to tour the area. This is a must stop if you are an Elvis fan. Natchez is a great area for history and food. Stayed at a state park nearby, very nice.

First of all, the Trace is very freindly to RVs. We have done the Trace in a 33 foot trailer and a 36 foot Diesel Pusher. We have stayed at the Nationla Park (Trace) campgrounds that are located directly on the drive. These are "dry-camping" so you would want to be aware of the temps. There are many other choices, not far of the route, depending on what you are looking for.

We find it a beautiful and relaxing drive with many interesting historical sites along the way. It is NOT the fastest route from point A to B! Fuel is no problem, but you must take exits and maybe go into town a bit. There is nothing comercial on the route itself, but it is not much different than exiting the interstate for commercial businesess.

Take your time and enjoy this beautiful hi-way. Also, search this forum for many threads on the Trace!

We drove the Trace last week. No problems with our MH and toad. We spent the night at the Meriwether Lewis Campground, many good, level pull through sites for big rigs - especially in the newer section - turn left instead of right when entering the campground. We fueled up in Nashville before starting the Trace and had plenty for the entire route. Beautiful scenery and lots of wild turkeys and deer. Take the time to explore the Visitor's Center.

Ditto to exactly what FleetMan said except we drove it about 3 weeks ago Loved no commercial traffic and no stop signs. Plenty of pull offs and took some AWESOME pictures...

We've done the Trace twice. LOVE IT!! We stayed at Rocky Springs Campground which was very cool... lots of interesting history within a short walk of the campground...

The Trace is narrow (but OK) until you get to N. Jackson area where sharing it with a few hundred bicycles got very interesting! Watch saturday mornings around Jackson.

Old south winery in Natchez has a tour. It's not much to see but the wine is good and I really am not a wine drinker. It's all muscadine wine, not grape. There is a new campground about a mile from the Tupelo visitor center named Barnes Crossing CG, never sayed there but have ridden through it and its shady, nice and near the mall and tupelos shopping area. Leipers Fork Tn near Nashville is a neat stop, it's antique stores and a craftsman hand making muzzleloading rifles. If your there near lunch, eat at Pucketts Grocery and you might see a country music star. Several stars live in or near Leipers Fork as well as several horse farms.
