There is no best way around. Maybe a best time. Very early Sunday morning. I can tell you the worst time is probably afternoon rush hour in the rain.

avoid it altogether.

from Nashville we head south on I-65 to I-85 in Montgomery. 85 east to exit 9 (US 271) which ends at US231. 231 south thry Troy, Ozark and Dothan (all 4-lane) to I-10.

everything else being equal it's about 45-min longer than I-75 thru Hotlanta but a lot less stressful.

X2 do that trip multiple times a year. Atlanta is doable but stressful I have found traffic is least heavy between 11:30AM AND 2:00pm but the route via Montgomery is the best way around.
