Natchez Ms to houston Tx

As part of our journey home from picking up our new RV, I had great input from Tupelo to Natchez, the next part will be towards Houston, may pull up short to Lake Charles but if not Laporte Tx near houston is our next stopover. Any input on route there would be great, not sure if heading south and hugging the mississippi on La15 down to the 10 is the best most scenic route please give me your input,,,thanks

Clarify for us -
are you looking for a lazy scenic ride or
are you looking for the easiest, most direct route ?!?

We took 61 on the MS side down to I 10. Nice drive. I10 is overall okay with patches of rough road, Atchafalaya rest stop is great on I10. Then you get to the TX state line, then I10 is a nightmare. We got off I10 soon after to go north of Houston so I can't speak for Houston traffic or the I10 highway after Beaumont.

Everyone should drive (and stop to visit) the natchez trace....

Lot's of history... I even bicycled some of it through the woods a LONG time ago !
Gee-OR-Gee-US with the forest canopy along a leaf lined trail.

Got that part.. as we will be heading from Sherman RV home to California, we are hitting the Trace from Tupelo to Natchez and hang out there for a few days, but the question to this thread is the next stretch to Houston area from Natchez

Ok,
how about around Lafayette, La. ?

stay at Cajun Palms - Home

visit ALL the great restaurants in Lafayette,
go to Avery Island home of the Tabasco factory
Visitor Information | Avery Island | TABASCO.COM
or a Swamp tour on an air boat

exit I-10 @ exit 829 to Hwy 124 to the Bolivar Peninsula and take the new rv on the ferry to stay on the @ beach in west Galveston
see dolphins leading the boat !
