Natchez Trace
We are planning a leisure trip down the Trace in late spring, ending in Natchez. After reading other posts, we were looking forward to staying a few days at River View Park in the Natchez area.
It seems River View Park may be a victim of the recession. Their website is down and their phone is disconnected.
What a bummer.....

WOW!!!
We stayed there a couple years ago and noticed things like the pool and hot tub needed cleaning and weeds mowed. Sorry to hear if indeed they've closed.
If Tupelo, MS is in your overnight plans, I highly recommend this place.

Jim,
River View Rv Park and Resort in Vidalia Louisiana on the Mississippi River is OPEN AND DOING BUSINESS. I just called to confirm.

Good news as there aren't many options in Natchez/Vidalia.

Thanks Gary, found that out myself this AM. It appears their number changed and the message on the old number is "disconnected". I'm not sure what I did yesterday when typing in the web address. Must be a "white-hair" thing....

We have stayed there before and highly recommend the park.
We have done the Natchez Trace three times. Years ago we did a car trip and stayed in Bed and Breakfasts. We have done it two times in the motorhome - southbound one time and northbound one time. It is a beautiful and relaxing drive. Take your time.

Offshore,
You may get there before me! We plan to leave NC on June 1st, 2011 and start at the beginning of the Trace, south of Nashville. I think we will be gone about two weeks and plan to spend 4 or five days in Natchez.

Natchez State Park has a nice CG, we stayed in the B loop last March. Senior rate was $13 for 50 amp and water on a concrete slab backin site. The park is a few miles from town and just off the Trace. Some directories say that it has a 32' limit, but a blind person could park a 40' here.
There are also 3 NPS CG's along the Trace, all free and no hookups. Trace State Park outside of Tupelo has full hookups for $14 senior. In the north east corner of MS is Tishomingo SP, not as nice as the other two, but it is right off the Trace. There is also a COE park nearby, but a few miles off the Trace. The Trace makes for a great drive.

Great info from everyone on the Trace. Just another example of the value of this forum.
We are looking forward to the trip. As we approach retirement in three years, we are checking off east coast vacations that are on our bucket list. After retirement, out west we go!

Thanks for the information about the Trace. I was on it like 20 years ago in a car. We are going to Atlanta from the Houston area over Christmas and may take part of the Trace coming back to vary the scenery.
