NC to Destin, FL route recommendation

Hi all,

I am driving from Wilson, NC to Destin, FL. I would like to avoid toll roads unless they are on the EZ-Pass system.

I know of three routes:

1. I-95 S and I-10 via Jacksonville
2. I-20 W
3. I-95 S and I-20 W

Are any of the three routes preferred over the others?

Thank you.

Liz

We live in the panhandle of FL. Your route certainly will be better using 40 to 95' use caution through SC as parts or most of 95 is very rough and full of pot holes that could damage your tires and rims. Exit onto 295 bypassing downtown Jax. I 10 to Panama City Beach, 98 to Destin. Very nice road, 98 into Destin. Are you staying at Destin West?

Thank you for the quick reply.

Bummer about the potholes.

I am heading to Destin to park my MH at my aunt and uncle's condo while I drive the car north to Milwaukee for Christmas. I was planning on staying at one of the nearby state parks for a few days first unless you have another suggestion.

Thanks!

Not sure if you will encounter any toll roads while in FL. However EZ pass doesn't work there, FL uses Sun Pass and as of this past spring the 2 were not interchangable.

Your route, 95,10,98 to Destin will not involve toll passes. Tolls are generally in south and central FL, ie. Orlando, avoid if possible! There are many fine state parks in the Destin, Ft. Walton area. However, this is snowbird time. Call well in advance for reservations whether staying at Camp Gulf, Destin West, State Parks or similar CG.

:-)

With all the issues I'm having with my coach I wouldn't mind having help! I keep thinking that it is going to get easier. I hope I am right!
