Hey lng gas man!

Welcome to the forum.

84 to 81 sounds like a good plan, no real restrictions for ya. Depending on when you travel, there may be somewhat more traffic in the Scranton area but not like over the Tappan Zee.

PA 39 will take you right into the heart of the Hershey area.

It's a beautiful area around Hershey. Enjoy the trip.!

Hi All,

Hey Ing gas man,

I can not speak on I-90 or PA 39, however I have traveled on 84 & 81 lots of times and have never had any problems! Just came up 81 to 84 end of April on way back to NJ from Fla. I have also taken 84 to 91 going back and forth from NJ to Mass, also with no trouble at all. Enjoy your trip, and as you can see by my signature I am not much different from you!

Hey Ing gas man, Thats the way I go when I go to FL. I dont know about route 39.
If you want to bypass Hartford CT. take rt. 15 just before Hartford its a left-hand exit to 91 south to 691 west to 84 I go that way a lot of times when I hear there is a back up in Hartford on the CB.
Have a nice Ride

I've gotta visit Hershey too; before the Hershey company moves all production to Mexico. I heard the town council is considering changing the town name when the company leaves.

Ing gas man

Your plan is good. We came up that way from Florida to Maine a few months ago and this is the way we drove it. I agree with not going over the Tappan Zee bridge. Sometimes it can get so backed up on the bridge.

Why bother with all that traffic? We were very comfortable with that route. We did stop in Framingham Ma.on the way up, and some of the toll booths were a tight squeeze but slow and easy gets it every time. Female drivers get the thumbs up when we do something right. One of the gals in the booth told me "You go girl" when she saw the gray hair on my head and just driving like a pro nice and easy thru her narrow toll booth. About the same time a truck driver was flying through the booth and knocked his rear end into the barrier. My DH looked at me and asked "Is that us?" I was happy to reply that no it was not.

Enjoy your trip

Happymi
