Need info - US-89 Page AZ to Kanab, UT

Any tell me what the road conditions are between Page, AZ and Kanab, UT?

Leaving in the morning.

BTW - Page Lake Powel CG is real nice. Site could be more level - but scenery is great.

89 has no bad triangles on the Mountain Directory Guide. Smooth sailing.

Thanks for the info. I had the opportunity to talk to someone in the CG that said the same thing. Easy road, relatively flat.

My mapping program has us going 89 to Kanab, then South on 89 to 389, on over to 59 to 17 to I-15S to Zion West RV Park.

Anyone know a better route?

Thanks.

What's the matter with the guy in the CG. Doesn't he know the route? HEE HEE. Seriously. It's the way and it's good. I emailed you on your comment to me on 64 being rough. What did you mean by that ?

Cliff,
Our email and posts are crossing each other. I replied in the email about 64.

There was a long portion of US-64 out of Kirtland and over to about where 160 is picked up that was a washboard surface. Once I hit the AZ line everything smoothed out. Hwy-98 through the Navajo reservation was a treat. Smooth, a few wavy spots, but the scenery was great. Our Creator new what he was doing when he created the landscape.

Happy trails.

Well, made it to Leeds, UT. Only 156 miles today, but we get to cross Utah off on the map. We saw some great Creator landscapes and captured a lot of them on camera.

Thanks to all for all the information help. It's what the forum is about. We'll spend a few days here, then on to Las Vegas - another short day of only 127 miles. I think we'll go through the Valley of Fire in the MH and get some high seat pictures.

Thanks to all.

p.s., winds were horrible today. A person who lives in the CG we are presently in told me that this is the worse he has ever seen it. He said that gusts here at the CG today are about 49 mph. I believe him.

this is an old thread, but can anyone tell me the current status of 89? The map here in Williams claims that 89 is closed, but I don't know how old that info is.

Any updates to share?

Thanks,
Tom

89 near the junction of 89A south of Page is still closed from a road collaspe months ago. There is a very good newly paved detour into Page and you'll see road signs to direct you. You'll basically be traveling parallel to 89 on the detour. No problems for big rigs. Semis are directed that way, also.

Thanks, Twogypsies!

We will go to Page, and then on to Red Canyon.

Much appreciated.
