Need quick advice - best route from Memphis to Panama City FL?

Something has come up and I have to make a short notice trip due to family issue.

Due to no direct flights and how far I am from the airport, it looks like only a few hours difference between flying and driving, so I think I will drive and take my RV.

Google has listed several routes. The fastest is I-22 to I-65 and other than some construction, that looks good, but not sure about the road from Montgomery, AL to Panama City, FL (331, 87, 81). Is the road from Montgomery to Panama City an easy route for an RV?

Is there a better route? Is going down I-55 then 13/19 to Meridian and then some other non interstate roads down to Mobile, and then getting on I-10, better or worse?

In a car, I just always took the fastest route, but as a newbie with RVs and this being a last minute trip, I thought I would see if anyone was familiar with this route and could offer some advice.

Don’t overthink it! Only difference between driving a car and RV is overhead clearance. Can’t imagine that you’ll have any low clearance tunnels in that part of the country. I’ve driven our mh in those areas and never had an issue.

Good luck,

Drove it dozens of times. Go the way you like. No problems on any of the available routes. All the routes you listed are good. If at all possible try to avoid Birmingham. The roads thru there are pretty bad.

Either route is fine. Done them both.

Thanks guys.

As you can tell, this is still all new to me, and this will be my longest trip.

Now all I have to worry about is possible snow across MS/AL.

Turn right at the light.
Take the second left just past the Christmas tree lot.
After you come out of the curve, bear right (or was that there is a bear on the right?).
At the second light, turn left and follow the signs.

Or was that there's a bathroom on the right?

Watch out for snow! Just saw the weather report. Looks like snow south of Tennessee.

Well, at least we know you're old enough to remember CCR.

I don't care for the way 22 is incomplete coming into Birmingham. Have not been on south, but headed back to Atlanta. Not much signage and I ended up in some rough areas. Must be a better way

There is no good way through Birmingham. Roads are torn up and badly marked.
