I've also done the ferry and bay bridge/tunnel.That's a great ride and quite entertaining. There isn't always room for an RV so if your trip is well planned you might look into getting reservations in advance

South to keys

We also live in S. Jersey Wboro. and have traveled to the Keys and our home in Ft Meyers too. We also pull a trailer so tolls can be a big cost. If you opt to go down through Delaware (Rt 1 off at Odessa) and cross the CBBT (chesapeake bay bridge tunnel) no toll that way. If you go all the way on 13 to VA Beach, be prepared to find no crossing if wind is over 35 MPH. otherwise, just turn off propane. Toll is $17. the drive through Del,MD is flat and little traffic.

it really will take a little longer than three days. Also suggest that you truly consider going through Miami/Ft. Lauderdale rt 95 during the very early morning hours. traffic in the day time is miserable but at 3 am you will be arriving in the keys for breakfast. there is very little staying at Walmart anywhere in Florida but there is a nice stop over in a county park on the Indian river.

here is our preferred route: south 295 over DMB $10 to S on Rt 1 $2(small toll) 301 to 50 over the CBB to Annapolis to beltway and so over the Potomac. Try to time your travel down 95 through the Mannasis to Richmond area well around peak traffic and take the bypass 295 around Richmond. (we usually try to stay just south of richmond on the first day) You can be stuck there for hours. 301 is no better and there is traffic and a toll to cross the Potomac on 301.

plan your refueling for VA,So Carolina or Georgia. Prices in NC are much higher and FLorida can be high as well.

We have reservations on the 7:30 ferry. I am a little concearned about the weather forecast for Friday & Sat. calling for single digits on the temp. Friday night so will hold off on the water fill until Sat. and keep heat on..
