New Snowbird Leg 2 Scottsdale to Hereford AZ

This appears pretty uncomplicated even for January. Iím thinking I 17 South to I 10 to Benson then SR90 South to Hereford. Any flaws in this route? Again Entegra Esteem 29V Class C pulling a Beetle toad. Should be on this leg January 13th. Any weather concerns? 209 miles

If you are in Scottsdale, it's I-10, not I-17, all the way to Exit 302 in Benson.Traffic is heavy at commuting times, beware of sand storms, and crazy drivers. 3.5 to 4.0 hours.

While the early bird gets the worm, the second mouse gets the cheese!

Your route is good. From 90 in Sierra Vista you'll be taking Moson Rd. to Hereford. Any particular reason to go there?

In the same area some 'do not miss' places are Kartchner Caverns State Park for a awesome cave tour. They also have a nice campground with electric, water fill and dump station. Nice hiking trails.

From Hereford go over to Bisbee and take the mine tour. You don a yellow slicker and are issued a hard hat with a mining light on it. Then you board the mine car to take you in for the tour given by ex-miners. It's informative and fun!

If you're into birding Sierra Vista has some nice canyon hikes to do this - world renowned.

You'll be at higher elevation than Scottsdale so it will be colder and occasional light snow in January. Usually no issues with driving as it melts fast.

Have a good one!

My trip plan is to get to Tarpon Springs FL by February 1st. That doesnít leave a lot of time for sightseeing except for visiting family along the way. My brother and a cousin live in or near Scottsdale so I plan on spending 4 days there. I have a cousin who owns a ranch in Hereford raising Clydesdales and she invited me to stop by. She has hook ups so I plan to stay there a couple of days as well.

I have another cousin in Choctaw OK and then itís onto my final destination. I do appreciate the beauty of that part of the country and maybe next year when I travel through again Iíll have more time to stop and smell the roses. I got a late start this year.
