New Snowbird Leg 3 From Hereford AZ to Choctaw OK

This leg is the one that has me worried about the weather. I’m thinking I 10 East to Las Cruces to take I 25 North to Socorro. Then to Albuquerque Via still I 10. Then East on I 40 to Amarillo TX. I 40 will take me into Oklahoma City and then into Choctaw OK. Am I going too far North in January? Time frame will be the week of January 17th. If this is too far North for this time of year I can skip my visit and travel South but how far South?

I should add my final destination is Tarpon Springs FL on February 1st.

From Hereford, AZ 80 via Douglas to NM 80 to I-10. At Deming N, take short cut to Hatch NM and I-25 to Alb. Then I-40 East. Albuquerque from Hereford (where I live) figure on 7 hours. Just keep an eye on the weather but usually ok.

Personally, I wouldn't go to Oklahoma in January! They do have snow storms and it's going to be very cold.

From Hereford take I-10 all the way to Florida. There are many interesting places to go off the interstate. Texas has some very nice state parks and the secondary highways are very good if you want to get off the interstate where you won't see anything.

If your visit is important than I would personally include Choctaw. If your schedule is at all flexible than there is zero chance of you getting snowed/iced in. There are a handful of days each winter when you wouldn't want to be on the roads around here (okc).

I do agree it will be cold and hopefully this time next year I won't be in OKC.
