New York to Missouri

My wife and I are planning a trip from Albany, NY to Warrensburg, Missouri in July. This will be our first 'long' trip for us, @ 2500 miles round trip. Any advice on routes and travel times would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thruway WB to I-88. South to I-80 W. South at Columbus Oh, to I-70 W to Williamsburg. The Thruway (I-90) is too expensive (tolls) and the road is in bad shape all the way to Niagara Falls. I-88 is a better road and less traffic.
