What kind of roads are highway 101 across southern NH and highway 9 across southern VT? Surface quality? State or US highways? Mountainous? Curvy? 2-Lane? 4-Lane? High or low volume traffic? Any likely problems with ice or snow in early April?

Ken, I would suggest that you drive north on Rt 100 from southern Vermont, a most beautiful drive fore sure. Then wonder around the VT notchs over to NH, and then go to Sebago Lake area of Maine, then to the Maine Mid Coast area. Now thats a vacation. ayy Frankie

Opps, I just noticed my trip is the wrong direction from the way you wanna go, oh well, wrong again

We'll be going west from Biddeford ME to Niagara Falls on a tight schedule. The kids only have a week off from school and it's a long way from GA.

If your time is limited because of the kids schedule, I suggest you travel to Niagara Falls on I-95 to I-495 to I-90 across Massachusetts and New York. All of I-90 and parts of I-95 are $$ roads but you will make better time than going across NH and VT on 101
