NH to FL best route
We will be heading south after the new year. We are planning on putting up the first night at the KOA in Jonestown, PA.
In the past we hav gone over on 84 to 81 south.
Looking at the map I was looking at going down 684 to 287 to 78 to 81.
Does any one have any input on that route?
:anyone

I have tried many ways . I cannot say either is better. The bridge at NY PA border is under construction on I-84 and can back up and there is construction at 684 and 287. You can hit quite a lot of traffic on 287, there is also an extra toll 78 in PA. I do stop at Cabela's when traveling 78 in PA. Either way I stop at the last exit before entering PA for fuel.

I'll be watching this thread. We are also doing NH to Florida in January. So far the plan is to go the 84 to 81 route. We've never done this before so I'll be interested in hearing what others suggest. You'll be a few weeks before us. Have a safe trip.

I wouldn't take 684 to 287 unless you time it right for the TZ bridge (mornings till 1 pm but with the TZ you never know. They do have some good traffic cameras so you can always take a look on line first and then make your decision). Can take 84 to the NY thruway S and then take 287 in Suffern to 78. Went this way in the spring and you will hit traffic in the afternoon. We stayed at the Jonestown KOA our first night too. 78 was rough as a cob for the first 30 miles in PA but they might have finished the construction this summer? I hear the construction on 84 at the PA border is a mess also.

I found a different thread that talked about taking 84 to the first exit in PA (53) to 209 to 33 to 78 to Joanestown KOA and 81.

Yea, it's here and there's already a number of options noted on that thread.

I just went to the Goodsam trip planer to set up this route, found a low bridge warning when getting off 84 to get on to 209. It flaged it at 12'-9".
Does anyone know if this is one of those with a low inside lane issue but a higher center height?
