Niagara Falls - NY or Canada

We are planning a short road trip to see Niagara Falls and are wondering if we should look for hotel accommodations in NY or Canada?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We would like a nice hotel close to the falls and preferably with a view of the falls. Any help?

We do have passports.

Thanks

We have stayed on both sides in our RV but if I were planning on a hotel I think I'd look at the Canada side first. I think a better view of the falls especially at night with the colored spot lights shining on the falls , beautiful flower beds, walk ways, restaurants, etc.

Not because I'm Canadian but I used to live there I would recommend the Canadian Side in a heartbeat. You can stand in one place and comfortably see the falls from the Canadian side but you have to hang over the railing to see portions on the American Side.

I hear Texas brags they have plumbers who can fix that little leak.

We've been a few times and strongly recommend the Canadian side. Hope you enjoy your time there. It's great.

while on a motorcycle trip several years ago we stayed in a bed and breakfast on the canadian side. it was about a 10 minute walk to the main part of the falls. i don't remember the name of the b&b but i thought the price was reasonable and included a good breakfast.
we really enjoyed our stay there.
google Niagara falls b&b's for a list.

I was born and raised in NF, NY and I can tell you although it hurts to say this....the Canadian side is a million times better. Many more things to do, restaurants, museums, view of the falls, etc. however swing through the US side and spend a day. Grab a viola's sub for lunch and hit up Michael's Italian restaurant on Pine Avenue. If you have any questions about the area PM me......
