Niagra falls to Detroit though Canada

Has anyone drove through Canada on 400,401,402 from Niagra Falls to Detroit? On the map it looks shorter than going the southern route. How are the roads?

Thanks in advance.

Almost 2 hours shorter. Roads are good.

I drive the 401 weekly, and January 6th drove from Toronto to Windsor / Detroit on the 401.
The road is excellent (2-3-4 lanes).
Several places to stop for fuel, and the ONroute Service Centres have parking for RV's, and we have stayed there overnight.
Hwy 400 goes north/south from Toronto and does not go east/west between Niagara Falls and Detroit.
When crossing the Ambassador Bridge "watch" for the RV Lane sign at the inspection booth on the Detroit side.

I used to figure from Buffalo to Flint it was a 100 miles longer going by way of Cleveland. Since 911 date, I usually take the longer route to avoid Customs due to my CCW permit and a Texas licenses plate.
Fuel cost is much higher in Canada, so enter with a full tank if you go that way. Also, if you stop in Canada, carry some CN cash as some places won't discount your US dollars and will charge full face value.

Last summer we went from MI to Niagara Falls through Point Edwards. I-94 & I-69 in the US and the 402 to 403 in Canada. The Canadian Roads are excellent and its a much prettier drive than going south of the lake in the US. If you fill up before you get into Canada, you can make it back to the US before you need to pay the higher Canadian fuel prices. Canadian customs officials are more pleasant than the US officials. Make sure that you have your passports and rabies certificates for any pets.

We live on the Canadian side of Lake Erie.
What you have to consider using this route is that it will cost at least 10 dollars for each bridge crossing.
Add up to 1 hour at each end for customs and bridge line ups.
