We are traveling in our 32 foot motorhome, and want to continue north on Highway #1 from Pt Reyes. Can anyone report on the condition of the road from here north to where it ties in with 101 at Leggett? It's the section from here to Mendocino that we're most interested in--we've done Mendocino north before.

Thanks for any help you can offer. We are staying at the Olema RV Resort in Olema...if you're ever over this way, it's a great jumping off place for Pt. Reyes, Muir Woods and the Golden Gate Nat'l Recreation Area, not to mention the great little towns with eclectic shops and eateries.

Hwy 1 North of Pt Reyes is almost all 2 lane with little to no shoulder. It has many curves, some hair pin and almost all on climbs or descents. From Little River to Ft Bragg (about 30 miles is fairly straight) After Ft Bragg to Leggett is again very curvy and climbing. The Hwy itself is well maintained (no pot holes or rough areas). I drove these roads in my toad in July. I parked my M/H in Ft Bragg and took day trips. The drive from Willits to Ft Bragg is a challenge for me, but the worst part is only about 20 miles.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd sure like to know more about Olema RV Resort. I've heard it's pretty tight and the spaces are close together. Can you give me more details about the park? Thanks.

We enjoyed our time at Olema Resort, but there were very few rigs there when we spent four days there, so we almost had the whole place to ourselves. We had a spot with some open lawn on one side of us, and there were no neighbors, so I can't really speak to how close the spaces were. However, if I can recall, it didn't seem to me that the spaces were as close together as many others we have been in. We would definitely go back there, and it was a great jumping off spot for so many things.

I hope this helps.
