NW Arkansas to Perry FL

going from NW Arkansas to Perry fl last of October. planning on sleeping a few hours about 12 or 13 hours into the trip. im getting a little old to do the trip one shot and with the wife and dog along will turn into an 18 hour trip
was wondering if better to go thru Montgomery or take the longer way thru Atlanta which would provide the best places to pull over and safely sleep.
we are in a camper van pulling a small trailer. never been in this corner of the country so would appreciate the advice

I'd go through Montgomery. I'm sure there are plenty of safe spots to sleep along the way.

I would think Montgomery would be a safer place to stop than anywhere near Atlanta. If you go to montgomery, I suggest you take i85 towards atlanta and then turn south after about 4 or 5 miles on taylor road Alabama 251, south to us 231 to dothan, following 231 all the way to I10. I am thinking montgomery may be about 12 hours for you. At speed limit it would be about 9 1/2 hours from Fort Smith Arkansas.

I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to go through Atlanta. There is a Walmart that allows overnight parking here:

1903 Cobbs Ford Rd, GPS: 32.46111, -86.41502

This is just off I65 in Prattville, AL. I went to a couple of rallies in Prattville and it's a nice community.
