We are going to Goose Creek Resort in Newport, NC after the Fourth, would like to avoid I-95 for the most part, but not lenghthen our drive too much. Any suggestions starting from Warwick, NY which is close to I-287 in Northern NJ? We are hauling a 5'ver.
Thank you for any suggestions, Yahoo says 95 all the way.

Rose, Come down Route 13 just outside of Wilmington, DE and keep coming. Switch over to 301 toward Annapolis and keep coming down to Ruther Glen in VA just North of Richmond, VA. There's a "Hook" (Flying J) right at the I95 Exit entering the highway.

You by-pass B'More and DC going this way PLUS it's more scenic. Once you get back on I95 South you've got all that Northern traffic out of the way. Continue through Richmond on I95 and the next state is NC.

You can begin making your way East by heading toward New Bern and then down to Newport.

Hope this helps!

Once you pick up 13 it will run into 17, then 70 to Newport, NC.

Thank you for the tip on 301, that will avoid lots of traffic. We've never been beyond the OBX and are looking forward to some new adventures. Staying at Goose Creek CG under our 1000 Trails membership for 2 weeks, hope it's nice!
