Oh No, Another new snowbird Mi to Fl. route

Hey all! we have booked our reservations for this winter after lots of research & many thanks to the advise we got here. We are doing 1 month in LaBelle (Whisper Creek) & 1 month near Sebastian (Whispering Palms) & a few days camping in the front yard of our friends house near Marathon in the keys. We cannot do the whole winter thing yet as we are still working. My question is,, what's the best way to travel down in late Dec. straight down I-75 or do the I-69, 65, 24 split back to I-75 climbing Mounteagle? Our truck does ok but havn't had it in the big hills yet. We have done both routes in the past but not pulling a our larger TT.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to FL. If traveling in Dec. I would watch the weather channel then decide.

Ran I-75 and the I24 route last year. Prefer the I75 but be aware of the construction thru Ohio. Worse I have ever see.

Good Luck

They said we have room just for you this year, just close the door behind you on your way down.

just made that trip.

I69 in Indiana should be in decent/good shape by time you head down, lot of asphalt resurfacing going on.

I69 to I465 to I74 to I275 to I75 if you hit Atlanta after 10am and before 3:30pm take it straight thru on 75 if not take 285 around the west side.

Hi runsdeep,
Take I 75 all the way. Any construction may be dormant in December.

We usually take the 79 to 77 route where we encounter some big hills in Virginia. .. I dont recall any big hills along the 75 route....

Prob. will take I-75 the whole way down, we pick it up near Bay City off of US 10, we always avoid Atlanta during peak drive times but go straight through downtown,, Oh boy!. We run at least 4-550 miles a day with 2-3 stop overs.
BTW anyone ever stayed at Whisper Creek in Labelle Fl.? They have a good rating from what we have seen.
Thanks again for the replies! & will see you on up the road.

Please post the condition of Ohio I75 after your trip. I avoided it this year because of the horrible condition last year. If it is bad going down the route I posted earlier is a pretty decent alternative.

I'd go I-75. We ran it down last winter from Cincinnati south & felt it to be OK.

When I went to FL the first time I took a rather odd rout (Via Newington CT) for business reasons, But returning (in Jan) I took I-75 all the way.. There are some nice long grades where you will need more than engine braking, but no really steep.. AVOID major cities at rush hour (Cincincatti/Atalanta for example) if you find yourself approaching at the hour of rush considering finding parking for the evening.. Turn in way early and pass the city at 3am or after 9am, Either one works.
