OK Tollroad Rest Stops

We are planning a trip this summer to Albuquerque, NM. We would be traveling through Oklahoma via the Will Rogers Turnpike to Tulsa, and the Turner Turnpike to Oklahoma City before hitting Highway 40. My question is this. Do they have rest stops, or places along the tollroads where a traveler in a motor home would be able to pull off and get a little sleep if needed? Or even overnight like you would in a Cracker Barrel or Walmart? We would like to avoid big city driving (except on the Interstate) as much as possible.

Although I haven't driven that section, whenever I go into the 'unknown' I use GoogleMaps Streetview that allows you to select a section of highway or interchange and zoom all the way down to the street level where you can pan around and see everything that is around - tight gas stations, traffic lights, etc.

I also found a website called OKHighways.com -- Interstate 44 (Miles 242-328) which shows you pictures of the OK highways as you go down the road. The Will Rodgers Turnpike has the largest McD's in the world so I'm sure they have room for you rig to snooze for a couple of hours.

There are plenty of places to pull off. There are the big service centers like in photo posted already. Also, there are several picnic areas well spaced. No bathrooms but parking is OK.

Don't know about staying over night but in big service islands they area huge parking areas and I would feel you could stay a few hours.

Not other Walmarts or commercial places on the turnpike itself. Plenty in Tulsa and at each end in Joplin MO and OKCity.

Drove that route last year heading to Branson...IIRC they took me for almost $20 to drive that stretch of road. We stopped at the McDonalds pictured earlier...didn't know it was the biggest. Parking was not a problem. Didn't purchase any fuel but they do have pumps if you need it.

Here is a link to the tolls, You are charged by the number of axles of all vehicles. I have a triple axle trailer so I get to pay the same as a semi when I cross, 5 axles worth! Just click on the link, go down to the section about fares and click on that, find the turnpike you plan on crossing, and check out the column for your # of axles.

Yes! If you have a tag axle RV and a toad you have 5 axles and you will be charged that same rate that an 18 wheeler is charged.

Forgot to mention...cash only. They do not accept any other type of payment. We don't normally carry cash, but luckily we had a few bucks and our laundry quarters

Yep, they sure do. Every axle that is on the ground is charged so just count up the axles you have and check out the link I provided and you will have the amount you have to pay. It costs quite a bit to cross Ok if you are towing and want to follow I44.

Wow........I'm learning a lot here.........important stuff, too. Glad to know about the cash only thing......hate to have only a credit card and have to pay the fine instead of the toll. And now I know EXACTLY how much cash to have. This site is so great.

Look like $33.00 to drive the whole length for my tag axle coach plus toad. That's close to what it costs to run around Chicago and Indiana when traveling from Wisconsin to the Elkhart, IN area. Unfortunately there aren't any really good alternate routes to take in either of these areas.
