Hello,

Traveling to New Bern next week. Will be in a 39' class A w/ toad coming from the north (Balt). I see two routes and would like suggestions on the better?

One, get off 95 at 64 and work over to 17 S.

Two, continue on 95 to 70 E to Through New Bern.

Either way I need to end up at the KOA which is on the East side of NB on rt. 17.

TIA,

Russ,
We will be going to the KOA in New Bern during Labor Day Weekend. We will be taking US70 from Garner, N.C. Garner to Kinston is no big deal but there is alot of conjestion and stop lights from Kinston to New Bern. The last time we went it took us longer to get from New Bern to Kinston, then Kinston to Raleigh. I'm not sure about US64 over to Rt 17, maybe someone will chime in about that route.

craziecritte,

Thanks for the response, here and on my other thread. Since I will be there and back before you go, I'll try to provide whatever info you need. Feel free to contact me via email, my addy is in my profile.

I am interested to learn about the other route as it looks like it would be better, from the 'staying off the interstate point' but not if it is impassable for a large rig.

I know the US17 is 4 lane from Morehead to down below Shallotte, NC. Not too sure about when HWY 64 runs into US17 if it is 4 lane or not.

I actually traveled down Rt. 13 my last trip across the Chesapeake Bay/Bridge Tunnel, then Route 17 all the way to the New Bern KOA...was pleasantly surprised at how good the majority of Route 17 was for Rv travel.

I continued down Rt. 17 to Myrtle Beach the following day...I had traveled that route before so knew what to expect.
