Anyone have any idea what the southern Oregon coast might be like traffic wise in July? Tons of people or are they gong to be further north where there is more to do? Thinking of passing through Brookings and going a bit further north, but no much.

If it is a mess, we will just stay home. Go in the fall.

I've been there at all times (well, almost) of the year. I never really noticed that the traffic was outrageous, just some of the destinations were a little crowded. Crowded on the Oregon Coast is nothing like Tahoe City or Sacramento, or........... I never let the time of year inhibit my travels to Oregon. The only thing you might/will have problems with is finding a place to stay on the coast without reservations. BTW, Brookings is boring, and that's the way they want it. Even the Tillamook cheese place is a boring tour. Further north there's a lot more to enjoy.

We have never, recently anyway, travelled in July or August. But want to get out of Tahoe in July which seems to be the busiest month of all.

Seldom travel without reservations unless we know exactly what to expect from our destination. Even then, for peace of mind, often just go ahead and pop for the reservation and relax.

I thought the further north along the OR coast would be more popular but it seems that it all is busy for one reason or another.

Boring is fine. We read, hike, walk the dogs, or just hang out. Now if we can find some place really boring maybe there will be places to stay.

So the hunt continues, for now.

The further north, the more there is to see. Lots of lighthouses, Newports is fun for walking around, the Blue Heron is a nice place for wine and doo dads, look at the visitors guide. There's lots to see and do, it's just not all on the coast. We love goingf up there, especially when it's 105 degrees down here!!!!

Stay at Cape Blanco State Park - awesome and uncrowded if you can get there late morning. Beautiful beach, lighthouse to explore, huge RV sites....what more could you ask for? We love it!
