Thanks for the info! Luckily, we have a small 25' trailer, so this shouldn't be much of an issue for us. We are 96" wide, but we DO have slide-outs on both sides.

BTW...Anacortes is one of our faves, and is one of our potential options for our final destination. Love it up there!

Before we settle down and stop driving, we would like to do the Olympia-Peninsula-Coast 101 drive, at least half-way down the OR coast.

We've used the Oregon coast state parks with our 40' motorhome with no issues.

I was also worried about the wind off the water on the coastal roads blowing us around, but sounds like, except under extreme conditions, shouldnt be an issue. Sounds like winter driving is a bit more challenging.

We are looking at also doing the drive from Annacortes down the Oregon coast.

For those who did this route (N/S, or S/N), did you prebook your RV parks or just wing it?

We just winged it and had no problems finding a spot every night. We actually found a couple of places we would have never booked that we really liked and had fun at. We have done that trip in July and October, no problems either time.

If travel is over a holiday, pre-book for the holiday period. Places fill up real fast on holiday weekends.

I live on 101 and am always amazed at what some people will drive on this road. It isn't the 40' DP with toad that is the problem. It is the overloaded TC that sways uncomfortably side to side or the subararu towing a 30' TT with no WD and then hits the big bumps. It is a nice drive just be expected to slow down in the small towns, watch out for our small town speed traps, and if you have 4 people lined up behind your slow moving vehicle please pull over and let them pass. They are crazy and will try and pass at the worst time making them a hazard to not only you and them but for on coming trafficking. There are plenty of great places to camp, we even have a ton of BLM and forest service camps.
