Oregon, Washington weather?
What time of year is best for traveling south from Seattle, thru Oregon, to San Francisco, probably on Hwy 101. We have twin grand daughters due in May so could not leave Texas until maybe July, if trip is to be this year. DW and I are retired and will not be in a hurry. Want to follow the weather where we can. DW does not do hot, and I do not do cold.

July would be good to do the WA,OR,CA coast. Depending on the wind direction, you could have 50 degree days on the coast or 90 to 100 degree days. However, your chances of rain should be pretty low.

What about later in the summer. If we leave Texas July 1 it would probably take us more than a month to get to Seattle and be ready to head south down the coast. What about August September, October? When does it turn cold on the coast? And when does it get wet?

The coast is best from mid August till early October. September being probably the absolute best time.

September is beautiful in Oregon, temperature is in mid to high 80's where we are in Eugene, maybe high 70's near coast. Enjoy your trip.

Agree with the above. As for wet, well, it can rain anytime on the west coast but usually you can bet that you will get pretty good weather anywhere between May and Oct. Doesn't mean you won't get a week of solid rain here and there but it becomes much less frequent as you pass through May.

Thanks all for the responses. Looks like we will try and start the trip south from Seattle area around Labor Day. That means Yellowstone and Glacier NP in August. Looking forward to it.
